We all love Nature; whether it’s you or me. Time stops when we are with nature !!
Am I right? So just to hold the time for a while I wanted to get in touch with Nature very often. And what can be a better way than we having a garden at home. In late 2019 we got lucky and got the apartment with a Terrace. And with Pandemic, the urge of getting the terrace garden became even more strong.
I was looking for someone to help me with my setup and from a neighbour I came know about Mr. Krishna Kumar of Quantum Leap. He definitely helped me to setup my dream garden but we never knew that our association will come this far, that we’ll setup of small farm together. More about this later.
We started with very small setup but over time it had grown up to serve some of our vegetable needs. We started to get regular supply of greens, radish, beans and some fruits as well. I also started doing the composing at home and got the feel of circular economy 🙂 . I am able to save 100s of rupees by doing my composting.
As we spend more time with something, it grows on us and that’s what happened. One day just browsing I got to know about the Oota From Your Thota (Food from your Garden) Bengaluru community and from that I came to know about the managed farm land concept and with-in no time I started dreaming about have a farm land. What next ? As you might have guessed, I took the opportunity to get one for us in late 2021 near Kanakapura, which is about 65KM from my home. Though overall it is large property but we own a tiny bit of it. I chose the managed one to play a safe bet, even if we can not do things; there is someone to take care of it.
Almost a year passed and then I came to know about the multi-layer organic workshop by Mr. Akash Chaurasiya , which was scheduled near Bengaluru in Dec’22. I attended that and started implementing in the part of the managed farm plot we had. It was a very fulfilling experience. We now go there almost every week and get our fresh veggies.
Now the experience of the multi layer farming has taken the interest to the next level and the will to do something more in farming has increased. Krishna sir then told us about the farm land he is about to purchase, so we just joined him and took 1 acre of land in Pavagada in mid 2023. We waited for a year for a better monsoon and did the partial plantation with Dates and other Fruits in mid 2024. We’ll have to wait for few years to see the results. In-between we are also planing some crops like Ground Nuts, Millets etc.
I am creating a separate page for each of the above. Do check it out 🙂
