This happened by chance only. Krishna sir, who has helped me with the Terrace Garden and Dhanvi Planing was purchasing a land in Pavagada and there was availability of 1 acre of land, which I took. It was part of an existing farm and our friend was selling part of it, so most of things were in place. It is about 170 KM from my place in the Tumakuru District.
We purchased it in July’23 waited for a year to do the plantation as there were not much rains last year. Considering the climate and distance in mind we decided to go with Dates as our main plants. This year in July’24 we did Dates plantation along with other fruits. In the next few months we are also planning to add other crop like groundnuts, millets in the remaining patch.
According to my standards this is was large project by all means and I could not have done it alone. With team of 4 families along with the local support we could pull it off. We also had great bonding together after full days of work over food, chit-chat and much more. I am looking forward to enjoy the fruits together of our hard-work.
But things are more interesting here as the community is getting bigger there. Few other like minded people are coming together to acquire more near by land to build to realise the possibility of an eco-village. It is going to be interesting to see how things would evolve in the next few years. I am looking forward to participate actively to realise the dream.
