We are parents to two children, aged 12 and 7. After many years of regular schooling, we opted to homeschool them starting last year. We took that step to slow down a bit as everything else is not slowing down, especially Artificial Intelligence (AI) !! Professionally I have been giving trainings in the Generative AI (GenAI) and observing the space closely for over 2 years now. Because of this, I concluded that slowing down would not be much of an issue, even if kids want to go to school later.
हम दो बच्चों के माता-पिता हैं, जिनकी उम्र 12 और 7 साल है। कई वर्षों तक नियमित स्कूली शिक्षा के बाद, हमने पिछले साल से उन्हें होमस्कूल (घर पर पढ़ाना) करने का विकल्प चुना। हमने यह कदम थोड़ा “थमने” के लिए उठाया है, क्योंकि हमारे आसपास बाकी सब कुछ बहुत तेजी से बदल रहा है, खासकर आर्टिफिशियल इंटेलिजेंस (AI)!
पेशेवर रूप से, मैं पिछले 2 वर्षों से अधिक समय से जेनरेटिव एआई (GenAI) में ट्रेनिंग दे रहा हूँ और इस क्षेत्र को करीब से देख रहा हूँ। इसी अनुभव के आधार पर मैं इस नतीजे पर पहुँचा हूँ कि थोड़ा थम जाने से कोई समस्या नहीं होगी, भले ही बच्चे बाद में स्कूल जाना चाहें।
Starting in 2026-27, India is making AI compulsory for from grade 3 onwards. Also if you look at the recent AI Summit, it is very clear that India is offering a world-scale testbed to test AI technologies for others, which no other country can offer. While I agree that AI can solve many challenges India is facing—like providing AI tutors where there aren’t enough qualified teachers, or in healthcare and many other areas—as parents who can afford schooling for kids or teach themselves, should just become part of a testbed without knowing what’s coming next.
2026-27 से भारत कक्षा 3 से एआई को अनिवार्य बना रहा है। साथ ही, हालिया ‘AI Summit’ को देखें तो यह स्पष्ट है कि भारत दुनिया के लिए एआई तकनीकों के परीक्षण (testbed) के रूप में एक ऐसा मंच पेश कर रहा है, जो कोई अन्य देश नहीं दे सकता। हालांकि मैं मानता हूँ कि एआई भारत की कई चुनौतियों का समाधान कर सकता है—जैसे योग्य शिक्षकों की कमी वाले क्षेत्रों में एआई ट्यूटर प्रदान करना, या स्वास्थ्य सेवा में सुधार—लेकिन एक माता-पिता के रूप में, जो बच्चों की स्कूली शिक्षा का खर्च उठा सकते हैं या खुद उन्हें पढ़ा सकते हैं, क्या हमें बिना यह जाने कि आगे क्या होने वाला है, बस इस परीक्षण का हिस्सा बन जाना चाहिए?
I have put down some questions in another article – Are Indian Parents & Teachers ready for the AI Wave ? for Parents and Teachers and now I would like to have open dialogues with more parents to understand their thoughts. During the dialogues we can discuss below :-

- Discuss how our kids are using AI, if they are using ?
- Share our observations on how AI is changing our social relationships.
- Discuss the possible role of teachers after AI becomes mainstream in education.
- Explore whether we as parents are ready for the AI wave.
- Explore what possible steps we can take to minimise the ill effects of AI for our children.
