For beginners by me.<br \/>b. For advance users by Mr. Amit Shah<\/p>\n<p>If we put &#8220;vitualization&#8221; on any search engine we get &#8216;n&#8217; number of results and get confused.<br \/>So, I put more emphasis on the basics.<\/p>\n<p>I started my talk by comparing abstraction and virtualizarion.In virtualization we do not hide the underlying details and real system is transformed so that it appears to be different. For abstraction you can think of the OSI model.<\/p>\n<p>Then I talked about the &#8220;Why Virtualization&#8221;.  Some of the reasons are:-<br \/>* Server consolidation               *Multiple execution environments<br \/>* Virtual hardware                     * Debugging<br \/>* Software migration (Mobility) * Testing\/Quality Assurance<br \/>* Live Migration                        * Balancing Resources<\/p>\n<p>If we talk about virtualization then we definitely has to talk about the computer architecture.<br \/><a onblur=\"try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}\" href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/bp1.blogger.com\/_B32UQAsnGHA\/SEFKBbRtLWI\/AAAAAAAAAZo\/AZU-gyLBL24\/s1600-h\/architecture.png\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"margin: 0pt 0pt 10px 10px; float: right; cursor: pointer; width: 305px; height: 213px;\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/bp1.blogger.com\/_B32UQAsnGHA\/SEFKBbRtLWI\/AAAAAAAAAZo\/AZU-gyLBL24\/s320\/architecture.png?w=1200\" alt=\"\" id=\"BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5206524032579349858\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><br \/>*<span style=\"font-weight: bold;\"> ISA<\/span> (Instruction set architecture ) divides hardware and software. There are two kind of ISA, User ISA and System ISA.<\/p>\n<p>*<span style=\"font-weight: bold;\"> ABI<\/span> (Application Binary Interface<span style=\"background-color: rgb(255, 255, 0);\" name=\"textmarker_11\" id=\"textmarked_5\"><\/span><span style=\"background-color: rgb(255, 255, 0);\" name=\"textmarker_10\" id=\"textmarked_4\"><\/span><span style=\"background-color: rgb(255, 255, 0);\" name=\"textmarker_9\" id=\"textmarked_3\"><\/span><span style=\"background-color: rgb(255, 255, 0);\" name=\"textmarker_8\" id=\"textmarked_2\"><\/span>) provides a program with access to the hardware resource and services available in a system. It consists of User ISA and System Call Interfaces<\/p>\n<p>* <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">API<\/span> (Application Programming <span style=\"background-color: rgb(255, 255, 0);\" name=\"textmarker_15\" id=\"textmarked_9\"><\/span><span style=\"background-color: rgb(255, 255, 0);\" name=\"textmarker_14\" id=\"textmarked_8\"><\/span><span style=\"background-color: rgb(255, 255, 0);\" name=\"textmarker_13\" id=\"textmarked_7\"><\/span><span style=\"background-color: rgb(255, 255, 0);\" name=\"textmarker_12\" id=\"textmarked_6\"><\/span>Interface) <span style=\"background-color: rgb(255, 255, 0);\" name=\"textmarker_16\" id=\"textmarked_10\"><\/span>is a source code interface that an operating system, library or service provides to support requests made by computer programs.<br \/>clib in Unix environment : supports the UNIX\/C programming .<\/p>\n<p>By taking above things in mind we can divide Virtual Machines in two categories:-<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Process VM<\/span> at the ABI level: Virtualization of individual processes.<br \/>E.g., running x86 applications on Alpha CPU.           <br \/>Java is another example of process virtualizaton. That is java is platform independent. rgb(255, 255, 0);\" name=\"textmarker_64\" id=\"textmarked_59\"><\/span><br \/>Process virtualization is a matter of correct functioning and not a matter of performance.<span style=\"background-color: rgb(255, 255, 0);\" name=\"textmarker_73\" id=\"textmarked_68\"><\/span><span style=\"background-color: rgb(255, 255, 0);\" name=\"textmarker_72\" id=\"textmarked_67\"><\/span><span style=\"background-color: rgb(255, 255, 0);\" name=\"textmarker_71\" id=\"textmarked_66\"><\/span><span style=\"background-color: rgb(255, 255, 0);\" name=\"textmarker_70\" name=\"textmarker_2\" id=\"textmarked_1\"><\/span><span style=\"background-color: rgb(255, 255, 0);\" name=\"textmarker_1\" id=\"textmarked_0\"><\/span>I talked about hardware emulation, hypervisor<span style=\"background-color: rgb(255, 255, 0);\" name=\"textmarker_7\" id=\"textmarked_6\"><\/span><span style=\"background-color: rgb(255, 255, 0);\" name=\"textmarker_6\" id=\"textmarked_5\"><\/span><span style=\"background-color: rgb(255, 255, 0);\" name=\"textmarker_5\" id=\"textmarked_4\"><\/span><span style=\"background-color: rgb(255, 255, 0);\" name=\"textmarker_4\" id=\"text\nmarked_3\"><\/span>, full and para virtualization.I referred following for the same.<br \/><span style=\"background-color: rgb(255, 255, 0);\" name=\"textmarker_12\" id=\"textmarked_11\"><\/span><span style=\"background-color: rgb(255, 255, 0);\" name=\"textmarker_11\" id=\"textmarked_10\"><\/span><span style=\"background-color: rgb(255, 255, 0);\" 255, 0);\" name=\"textmarker_1\" id=\"textmarked_0\"><\/span>para-virtualization as well.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"background-color: rgb(255, 255, 0);\" name=\"textmarker_21\" id=\"textmarked_20\"><\/span><br \/><span style=\"background-color: rgb(255, 255, 0);\" name=\"textmarker_20\" id=\"textmarked_19\"><\/span><span style=\"background-color: rgb(255, 255, 0);\" name=\"textmarker_19\" id=\"textmarked_18\"><\/span><span style=\"background-color: rgb(255, 255, 0);\" name=\"textmarker_18\" id=\"textmarked_17\"><\/span><span style=\"background-color: rgb(255,
