{"id":1507,"date":"2015-12-02T00:16:14","date_gmt":"2015-12-02T00:16:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/wp.neependra.net\/?p=1507"},"modified":"2015-12-02T00:16:14","modified_gmt":"2015-12-02T00:16:14","slug":"akshar-bharati-library-setup-at-nimhans-bangalore","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/neependra.net\/index.php\/2015\/12\/02\/akshar-bharati-library-setup-at-nimhans-bangalore\/","title":{"rendered":"Akshar Bharati Library Setup at NIMHANS, Bangalore"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"p1\">On <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/events\/722551571212068\/\">28th Nov&#8217;15<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.aksharbharati.org\/\">Akshar Bharati<\/a> helped setting up Library section for <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nimhans.ac.in\/psychiatric-rehabilitation\">Psychiatric Rehabilitation Services<\/a> centre <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nimhans.ac.in\/\">NIMHANS<\/a>, Bangalore.\u00a0<b>Psychiatric Rehabilitation Services\u00a0<\/b>provides day-care to person with\u00a0<b>psychiatric disabilities<\/b>\u00a0 and engage them with some vocational activities like\u00a0arts, dance, yoga. Reading would be an\u00a0additional\u00a0activity. The library was inaugurated by director of NIMHANS Mr.\u00a0<b><i>P. Satish Chandra.<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">At Akshar Bharati we generally setup libraries for \u00a0under-priviledged children at schools or communities where they can read \u00a0books. Setting up library at NIMHANS certainly does not fall in that category. \u00a0The idea to setup library there came from our volunteer <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/renuka.gopinath\">Renuka Gopinath <\/a>and she connected us with Doctors at there. Dr. \u00a0Hareesh was our contact person there. He and his team have done an amazing job to setup the library room, collect the old books and arranging them. One of the Doctor&#8217;s daughter talked to her classmates, strangers to collect the books !!!<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Library Setup at NIMHANS, Bangalore\" href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/neependra\/albums\/72157659579551343\" data-flickr-embed=\"true\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/farm1.staticflickr.com\/583\/23429421436_8e66ce0cc3_n.jpg?resize=320%2C213&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"Library Setup at NIMHANS, Bangalore\" width=\"320\" height=\"213\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">To setup the library we collected old books, magazines in different languages like\u00a0Hindi, Kannada, English, Malyalam, Telgu, Bengali and Tamil. To spread the word we created flyers, facebook events etc and our Akshar Bharati co-ordinator <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/swaraaj1903\">Mr. Ganesh<\/a> did all background work for that. \u00a0Some of our friends also bought new magazines subscription for the library. Collecting books\/magazines for this library would be an ongoing process. If anyone wants to donate then feel free to reach out to me.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">It was great team work and we are happy that we could do it.
