Most of the millennials (Born 1981\u20131996) and their parents, have been made to believe OPPORTUNITY through COMPETITION <\/strong>is the only way of living life. This is what they (including me) thrived on to make a so-called better life for themselves and future generations. The effects of such life are now being visible with choking cities, stress, empty villages, pollution and what not. By default the future generation is going to inherit that and the choice is on us to make. But what is the alternative? Do we even have a choice?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

What if I tell you there is one, which is SECURITY through COMMUNITY<\/strong> and that it used to be the default way of our living for thousands of years. In just the last few centuries we were forced to move away from that and that force is still in place. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In earlier days we only had villages and there used to have a common land for the village, no individual ownership. Land Workers used to work in the land to grow grains for the entire village. Craftsmen like potters, carpenters, weavers and others used to create the best in class pots, doors\/chairs, clothes for the fellow villagers. There were caregivers like healers, teachers from the community itself. No-one bought anything, there was no unemployment, no-one sold anything. It was like a web of interdependence. Life was secured, no unnecessary surprises, stress-free \u2026 . We can refer to this as Life One.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

As Britishers’ came to India, they considered our way of living primitive, backward and said we don’t understand what wealth is. They set to modernise us with development. They brought individual land ownership acts to collect taxes, as no taxes can be collected on the common land. They forced people to come out from their homes to work in factories and destroyed our education system over time. But what is unfortunate that, we continued in the same path post independence, that led where there is<\/p>\n\n\n\n
